The Public Legal Education and Information Service of New Brunswick (PLEIS-NB, ) is looking for a Gender-Based Violence Project Manager to lead our resource development and community support initiatives around gender-based and intimate partner violence.

The Project Manager will be responsible for updating our printed and online resources related to gender-based violence, training others on issues related to GBV, creating and implementing an outreach strategy, and providing project management support to community projects addressing GBV/DIPV.

We offer hybrid work as an option if it is compatible with a person's responsibilities and the organization's needs.

Compensation: $45, ,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience (Pay scale category 2: Program Delivery). Plus health and dental benefits.

Duration: Full-time, Contract (through March 31, 2027)

PLEIS-NB is an independent, charitable non-profit organization with a mandate to provide education and information about the law to the people of New Brunswick.

About the role

PLEIS-NB has received funding to support a bundle of information and awareness resources and projects that address gender-based violence and domestic violence in New Brunswick.

The new Gender-Based Violence Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing these projects, which include a mix of PLEIS initiatives and external projects that are currently being supported by committees. This role will involve working closely with the PLEIS legal team, a Communications Officer, and external stakeholders. No legal experience is necessary, but the successful candidate will have demonstrated an understanding of gender-based violence and the social services environment in New Brunswick.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the PLEIS legal team to update and improve PLEIS resources addressing abuse and violence (eg. );
  • Maintain, promote, and support ongoing training for the following projects:
    • The "It's Your Business" DIPV in the Workplace Toolkit );
    • Safer Places NB );
  • Provide project management and co-ordination support to the committees responsible for Silent Witness NB ) and other community GBV initiatives;
  • Sit on provincial committees related to gender-based violence on behalf of PLEIS-NB;
  • Create and implement an outreach strategy for this work, which may include elements like:
    • Co-ordinating mail-outs;
    • Tabling at community events;
    • Running simple workshops on GBV and/or GBV resources (either in person or over Zoom);
    • Meeting with partners and new organizations to inform them about the GBV projects and/or connect them with our services;
    • Organizing and/or hosting events at libraries or other community spaces around the province; and/or
    • Other initiatives as developed by the Community Project Manager and PLEIS team.
  • Track outputs and help compile data for reporting to funders;
  • Undertake occasional single-day travel to locations around New Brunswick to meet with community partners and participate in events;
  • Contribute to the general good functioning of the GBV projects and PLEIS as a whole; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (social work, law, gender studies, etc) or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender-based violence and intimate partner violence
  • Experience in at least one of these categories:
    • Working in the community sector,
    • Working on public awareness or advocacy campaigns,
    • Conducting outreach,
    • Supporting survivors of domestic violence, or
    • Managing projects
  • Comfort with standard MS Office tools
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and also as a responsible and collaborative team member
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with other organizations, people, and groups

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Our successful candidate will probably have some of the following traits.

  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Familiarity with social services in New Brunswick
  • Knowledge of the law and legal services in New Brunswick
  • Valid NB driver's licence (for occasional in-province travel)
  • General understanding of trauma-informed approaches to service delivery
  • Comfort with public speaking, facilitating workshops, and talking to new people

All of our permanent and long-term staff earn above the living wage for Fredericton. Staff have regular 1-on-1 meetings with their supervisor, to answer questions, receive support and exchange feedback. This position reports to the Executive Director.
