Job Title: Electrical or Civil Power Distribution Technologist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Power Distribution Technologist to join our dynamic team. This position is based out of our Halifax, NS office and offers a flexible hybrid work model, enabling you to work from home and from one of our offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Planning: Design technical specifications and prepare construction drawings for overhead and underground distribution networks.
  • Site Visits and Data Collection: Perform site visits to determine the nature of the work required and collect/research data from geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Estimation and Coordination: Prepare job estimates, bills of material & labour for customer requests, circulate proposed plans for review and permit approvals, and coordinate schedules and deadlines.
  • Customer Liaison: Liaise with customers to determine needs and negotiate issues to resolution, respond to and/or resolve customer complaints, and ensure completed work adheres to engineering and construction standards.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering or equivalent related education and experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in designing overhead and underground distribution lines, transmission lines, and use of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft office, and other software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; French an asset.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
