Assistant (or Associate) Medical Director, Oncology Japan Development

Job DescriptionPurpose Statement:
To contribute innovative drugs and treatments to patients by providing medical expertise and experiences for clinical development strategies.
Major Responsibilities:
An associate medical director provides medical insights into clinical development programs discussed by a diverse team. Additionally, Associate Medical Directors ensure subject safety in local clinical studies in Japan. Assistant Medical Directors typically work under the guidance of an Associate Medical Director and/or a supervisor. Both roles share the following responsibilities:
- Provide medical advice within cross-functional teams, such as the Japan product team.
- Contribute medical insights to the preparation of clinical development strategy plans.
- Engage with PMDA and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to provide medical and scientific perspectives.
- Offer medical input during the execution of clinical studies, including providing Japanese medical information and contributing to safety-related issues.
- Handle tasks related to NDA and other activities, such as reviewing Japanese CTD contents and participating in medical department meetings.
- As Therapeutic Area Medical Directors (TA MDs), oversee study design, safety management, efficacy assessments, and interactions with PMDA and KOLs.
- Possess sufficient medical knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area.
- Demonstrate general familiarity with pharmaceutical associations.
- TOEIC score of 800 or higher, or equivalent English communication proficiency.
- Experience in company-sponsored clinical studies as an investigator.
- Minimum 5 years of medical practice experience (Associate Professor or equivalent preferred).
- Preference for experience in clinical development.
- Graduation from Medical School (PhD degree preferred).
- Must be a Qualified Medical Doctor.
