Job DescriptionThe US healthcare system is intricate and constantly changing. To lead in this environment, AbbVie's US Market Access (USMAx) Strategy and Pipeline Team must thoroughly understand the current and future state of the evolving US healthcare landscape and market access channels.
The Associate Director, USMAx Pipeline, Oncology will be responsible for developing US market access strategies for emerging assets and supporting business development evaluations in Oncology. This role requires integrating a deep understanding of the complex US health system and the evolving needs of US payers into early asset development. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of US private and public payer segments to represent the voice of US payers in the initial drug development stages. The candidate should excel in strategic thinking, building strong relationships for cross-functional influence, and have a successful track record of influencing without formal authority. The Associate Director will be fully integrated into the AbbVie Pipeline Commercialization Model, co-leading the Value and Access Teams (VATs) with International Market Access (IMAP) colleagues, and contributing to various teams for successful deliverables. Experience in US payer marketing strategy development and a comprehensive understanding of the AbbVie Pipeline Commercialization Model are crucial for this role.
Responsibilities- Develop draft US market access strategies for assigned assets, inclusive of a thorough analysis of the access landscape, competitive dynamics, payer unmet needs, and mitigation strategies.
- Support the integration of US market access perspectives into business development evaluations.
- Effectively collaborate within the AbbVie pipeline commercialization model, providing clear guidance to cross-functional teams to maximize value.
- Conduct landscape analysis for Disease Area Strategies and ensure alignment within the Oncology Pipeline Team.
- Work cohesively within USMAx to align with Market Access Marketing (MAM) peers on market strategies.
- Present MAM aligned perspectives at USMAx governance while also representing cross-functional interests to the USMAx Leadership Team effectively.
- Inform Clinical Development Programs for optimized patient access.
- Build robust relationships with peers in key functions for holistic alignment and strategy implementation.
- Deliver frameworks and analyses to support a clear stance in Oncology on critical areas of interest.
- Expertise in commercial and government payers is required, with knowledge of ex-US health systems considered a plus.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, business acumen, and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to influence without direct authority is a key requirement.
- Preferably 2-3 years of US market access experience.
- Experience in Oncology is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proven experience in leading payer research projects and understanding government contracting and customer buying behaviors.
