Group Summary

The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

About the Role

The position is responsible for supporting the Advanced Manufacturing Engineers with program launches. We are currently looking for a student in the Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering field for a 12 month co-op placement starting May 2024.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Assist with designing changes to work cell layouts using AutoCAD for all departments.
  2. Work with all Manufacturing Engineers and Department Process Technicians in resolving any problems regarding manufacturing process capability, using sound Engineering principles and SPC techniques.
  3. Conduct Program, Routing, and BOM Audits to ensure product is within the quoted standard.
  4. Perform work cell assessments with focus on process flow, standardization, ergonomics and 5S. Document the current state and make improvements by adding detailed work instructions, including audio / video demonstration
  5. Assist with development and maintaining Operator Instructions, Rework, Change-over procedure and instruction.
  6. Optimize all parameters to attain maximum running efficiencies for each job.
Who we are looking for
  • Enrolled in Post-Secondary Education
  • Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use; strong ability in word processing and spreadsheet software;
  • Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, DOE
  • Developing communication skills: verbal and written
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, an asset
