The Student Services Support Officer is expected to undertake a range of duties including but not limited to:

Key tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute ideas to make the activities/events fun, interesting and attractive.
  • Maintain regular communications with the Activity Coordinator.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students before/after/during the activities following Bayswater safeguarding policy.
  • Report any incidents or concerns that occurred during the activities to the Activity Coordinator.
  • Work on other tasks if/when required due to the cancellation of activities/events.
  • Take pictures and videos during the activities/events for marketing purposes.
  • Create social media contents and post them on our Social Media platforms as assigned.
  • Monitor calls & texts on the emergency phone after school hours and weekends.
  • Complete summer group tasks including activities, coordinating hot lunch, preparing or restocking supplies in units at the Seneca residence, and providing the meals (breakfast & dinner).
  • Support Accommodation team as requested.
  • Assist in the intake process and ensure all contractual documents are collected and stored confidentially, securely, and accurately.
  • Help organize and participate in weekly meetings with the Group Leaders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated customer service skills with an ability to diffuse escalated situations in a student-focused environment.
  • Minimum one year of relevant experience in higher education and student services environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Able to stand and/or walking for long periods of time.
  • Knowledgeable of the city of Toronto.
  • Experience in social media is a strong asset.
  • Able to conduct activities with a large group of people.
  • Flexible to accommodate new requests or schedule changes at short notice.
  • Experience in responding professionally under pressure and competent in managing urgent situations following agreed procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage workload, conflicting priorities, handle multiple tasks, and complete assignments with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A positive, enthusiastic can-do attitude and a genuine interest in working with international students.
  • Displays a genuine desire to understand and meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with students and colleagues at all levels, building rapport and establishing productive working relationships.
  • Available to work weekends and evenings.
