The Department of Immunology in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences (RFHS) and Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commencing on May 1, 2025, or a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with rank, qualifications and experience, in accordance with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association collective agreement.

The Department is seeking an individual to establish an original, innovative, extramurally funded research program addressing fundamental immunologic mechanisms in health and disease and complementing existing research strengths. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, immunobiology of chronic diseases, systems immunology, immunological tolerance, regulation of inflammation, immunometabolism and/or innate immunity.

The Department particularly seeks applicants with potential to bridge fundamental and clinical Immunology utilizing cutting edge methods such as single cell omics, multiomics, tissue organoids or humanized mouse models. The successful candidate will contribute to educating undergraduate, graduate and medical students through teaching and mentorship in Immunology.

Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent degree and a minimum of three years post-doctoral experience in an Immunology-related area. This position will have a substantial research component and evidence of a productive publication history in high quality, peer-reviewed journals and ability to secure competitive, extramural research funding are expected. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to conduct and lead original, innovative research working in a collaborative team environment, and will possess excellent communication skills. This position also requires participation in academic service activities to the Department, College, or University as assigned. Teaching experience in immunology and related areas would be desirable.

The position includes a laboratory start-up package and the opportunity to compete for additional equipment funding locally and via the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. The successful applicant will have access to core Faculty resources including state-of-the-art facilities for flow cytometry, live cell imaging, multiplex imaging, histomorphology and ultrastructural imaging, proteomics platforms, single cell transcriptomics, bioinformatics, humanized mouse models and others.

The Department of Immunology, the first in Canada, was founded in 1969 and is well recognized for excellence in research and graduate training. The Department occupies modern open-concept lab space in the Apotex Centre that has facilitated research and high calibre graduate and post-graduate research training by promoting collaboration and sharing of expertise. The Immunology open lab is well equipped and serves as home to Faculty-wide core facilities including Flow Cytometry. The Department has received international recognition for fundamental immunology research, interdisciplinary research, translational immunology and collaboration with industry. Immunology faculty benefit from strong linkages with scientists in adjacent research hospitals and Institutes within the Manitoba Health Sciences Centre complex, including interactions with clinician-scientists and indigenous health experts. The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences brings together health professional programs with biomedical science research and graduate training programs, all within a health science campus highly integrated with research and teaching hospitals serving the entire province. Abundant opportunities exist for research interactions with the extended biomedical science research community on campus, including the Manitoba Centre for Proteomics and Systems Biology, Child Health Research Institute of Manitoba and Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba.
