About the Role

Mace is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Program Director to lead our aviation infrastructure program in Toronto, Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar aviation infrastructure program that aims to revolutionize the airport into one of the most advanced, sustainable, and passenger-friendly facilities in the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Programme Delivery
    • Ensure all programme activities are aligned with the overall vision and strategic objectives, providing clear strategic direction and monitoring progress towards these goals.
    • Establish and maintain a robust programme delivery environment encompassing people, organisation, process, information, and technology to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Assemble a highly skilled project team with the right experience, capabilities, and technical competency, including appointing external specialists as necessary.
  • Performance Improvement
    • Improve performance from the baseline by optimizing resource allocation, and continuously monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating activities, systems, and methodologies.
    • Develop and implement metrics to measure and enhance programme performance, ensuring continuous improvement and excellence in delivery.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as a key contact for the executive team, ensuring efficient governance and gaining organizational support for programme activities.
    • Manage key client relationships through effective communication, constructive challenge, and consistent interface, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
    • Act as the public face of the programme, representing it to external stakeholders and chairing executive steering group meetings.
  • Safety, Quality, and Compliance
    • Direct and maintain exceptional safety standards, promoting Mace's value of Safety First, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all staff.
    • Uphold high standards of quality, cost, programme, sustainability, governance, risk, stakeholder management, and programme compliance.
    • Implement and maintain an effective risk management strategy, with appropriate management actions and risk treatments.
  • Programme Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of comprehensive programme documentation, including processes, procedures, plans, reports, registers, and lessons learned.
    • Actively promote knowledge sharing within the programme team and across the organization, leveraging the full depth and knowledge of the business and Centres of Excellence.
  • Team Development and Service Excellence
    • Create and nurture a high-performing, inclusive team environment that encourages contribution, recognition, and continuous improvement.
    • Promote and influence quality and service excellence in all programme interactions and conversations.
  • Commercial Viability
    • Ensure the programme's operations are commercially viable, influencing the achievement of business objectives.
  • Environmental Responsibility
    • Work collaboratively towards the goal of net zero carbon transition, proactively identifying and managing associated carbon emissions and reductions during programme delivery.
  • Thought Leadership
    • Provide thought leadership and expertise in programme management and execution, driving innovation and best practices within the programme and the wider organization.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programs in the aviation sector.
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
  • Experience working in the aviation infrastructure sector.
  • Experience in a director level position.
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent industry qualification or chartership.
