Join the People & Culture team on an exciting journey to transform the way we leverage Workday to empower and enable our employees and managers.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, People Systems, the Manager, Talent & HCM will be a critical member of the People Systems & Analytics department leadership team. They will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Specialists and Sr. Specialists collectively responsible for the configuration and evolution of a portion of our HR technology ecosystem, Workday, in particular the Talent (Recruiting, Performance, and Learning) modules, as well as HCM (Core HCM, Compensation, and Security) modules.

The Manager, Talent & HCM will collaborate closely with their team and with HR process owners to understand their HR programs, ensure that requirements for system change are effectively defined and that solutions delivered consist of effective functional configuration, take into consideration the end user experience, and are driven by process thinking. They will help cultivate within their team functional domain skills, business analyst skills, and a team-first mindset. We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following functional Workday modules:
  • Core HCM.

This position can be located in Ottawa, Montreal or Toronto and travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities may include the following types of tasks in your relevant functional domains:
  • Manage a team of Sr. Specialists and Specialists responsible for delivering functional solutions across an assigned breadth of Workday modules.
  • Lead bi-annual release coordination, ensuring change impacts are properly assessed and managed for scheduled releases to ensure minimal risk to the organization.
  • Lead sizeable cross-workstream functional change initiatives and small projects providing a 'product ownership' mentality and ensuring a holistic end-to-end solution is delivered.
  • Lead the prioritization of work for various functional workstreams, including cross functional prioritization. Lead workstream huddles with key business stakeholders to ensure all parties are aligned on priorities. Ensure team members are allocated and available to support critical priorities and initiatives.
  • Ensuring cross workstream alignment and considerations are taken into account in solution designs while providing best practice options and guidance to business process owners.
  • Understand the impact of change requests on users, and ensure consideration and planning of process and change management alongside functional changes.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to People Systems colleagues to ensure optimal Workday configuration considers effective and efficient business processes and data integrity, and accurate security.
  • Support the development of skills within the team, including technical configuration skills, business analysis skills, and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • Support and foster collaborative relationships between People & Culture process owners and People Systems to develop proactive strategies and plans to ensure system development is in line with program direction.
  • In collaboration with Sr. Manager, support the development of HR technology roadmap, and lead the review of this roadmap against new releases, ensuring seamless alignment.
  • Deep understanding and relationship with business process owners and stakeholders both within People and Culture, and across the business.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years experience providing direction to a HRIS technical team (preferably utilizing Workday), particularly within a People & Culture team with dedicated Centers of Expertise and Shares Services functions.
  • 3 years of experience configuring an HR system (preferably Workday) in one or more functional areas.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience within a Human Resources function.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop skill sets of other team members,
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and execution of small to medium scale projects.
  • Experience navigating in a complex, matrix organization with varying cultures and business realities. Unionized experience preferred.
  • Strong communicator and facilitator which enables you to build collaborative relationships with the ability to build consensus and productively influence decisions.
  • Clear analytical and problem-solving skills working with client groups/end users to identify and resolve business needs and applying innovation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, think tactically as well as strategically, demonstrate objectivity, show initiative and creativity and have a bias for action.
  • Bilingual in English and French - both oral and written - is an asset,
  • Workday Pro Certification(s) in one or more related Workday modules is an asset,
