We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in providing exceptional care to individuals experiencing problematic substance use. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will be responsible for delivering person-centered and recovery-oriented care, including assessment, referrals, counseling, and health promotion activities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on client needs and best practices, including administering prescribed medications and monitoring client response.
- Provide direct nursing care to clients, including conducting physical and psychosocial assessments, developing care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare team members.
- Manage emergencies, including drug overdose, heart attack, and assaultive behavior, through appropriate interventions and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify and resolve client/family issues, including participating in client care conferences and staff meetings.
- Teach clients and family members about illness prevention, health maintenance, and health promotion strategies, including assessing learning needs and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching methods.
- Graduation from an approved Nursing Program with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of approved addictions or substance use training, or substance use certificate program, and one year's recent related experience working in an addictions environment with individuals with substance use disorders.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
- Ability to promote person-centered care, including empathy, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, and advocacy for special populations.
