Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical guidance and support to our nursing staff, as well as coordinating and prioritizing client care activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and prioritize client care activities, providing formal clinical consultations to nurses and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Coordinate and participate in quality improvement and risk management activities, evaluating changes to client care practice and completing incident reports.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing evidence-based teaching and guidance on specialized knowledge and evidence-based practice.
  • Develop and implement clinical education programs, utilizing specialized theory and knowledge specific to hospice palliative care.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences, advocating for clients and promoting their rights to dignity, autonomy, respect, privacy, and access to information.
  • Support the selection of new staff and performance evaluation of designated staff, attending panel interviews and assessing clinical skills.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three years' recent related clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area, including one year experience in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Completion of applicable Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) certificate in the designated clinical area.
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and evidence-based hospice palliative best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and revise education/training and orientation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership using modeling, coaching, and mentoring roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct others and facilitate learning of staff and/or clients/families.
