Clinical Nurse Specialist

About the Role:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Fraser Health is a key member of the healthcare team, providing expert nursing care and leadership in a specific specialty area. This role requires a strong commitment to advancing nursing practice, improving client outcomes, and promoting quality care.
Key Responsibilities:- Exemplify Excellence in Nursing Practice: Maintain currency and excellence in nursing practice through involvement with selected client groups, provide expert nursing consultation, and influence nursing practice through advocacy and education.
- Provide Consultation and Leadership: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop effective client care programs, participate in provincial/national groups, and coordinate expert consultation for select clients.
- Develop and Implement Educational Programs: Provide leadership to clinical nurse educators in developing programs to assist nursing staff in meeting performance expectations and standards of professional practice.
- Support Nursing Research and Health Services Research: Demonstrate critical thinking, assist nurses in evaluating their practice, and participate in research efforts to promote clinical knowledge development and research-based clinical practice.
- Support Nurses in Their Practice: Participate in nursing committees and network teams, facilitate the design and implementation of agency-wide education programs, and participate in establishing goals and standards of nursing practice.
- Collaborate in Redesigning Systems and Processes: Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance client/population outcomes, build capacity and sustainability of individual and organizational systems, and articulate a clear vision for nursing within the context of the healthcare system.
- Provide Professional Expertise: Provide professional expertise to healthcare professionals external to the organization on matters related to nursing practice, including clinical, research, and educational activities.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Five years' recent related nursing experience with three years' recent experience in a clinical area relevant to the specialty
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programs in the area of clinical practice
- Ability to perform in-depth holistic patient/family assessments and guide interdisciplinary team members in care planning
- Ability to conceptualize research questions and collaborate with researchers to conduct research
- Ability to role model expert nursing practice and assist in the development of professional and leadership skills of nursing staff
