Job Summary

Oversees the planning, source selection, prioritization, evaluation, code creation, procurement, receipt and stock management of APIs, excipients and other materials in R&D for New Product Development and ROW, in order to support the on-time submissions. In this role, the incumbent will liaise and work directly with the NPD Project Managers, Project Leaders, Project Coordinators, R&D teams, GAPIP and other cross-functional stakeholders on the planning and delivery of materials for their projects.

Job Responsibilities
  • Works closely with GAPIP and the NPD Project Managers/Leaders/Coordinators, GRD teams and other stakeholders in planning, prioritization, evaluation, source selection, code creation, procurement, receipt, testing/release and stock management of Materials (APIs, Excipients, Components, Samples, etc) to support New Product development and ROW submissions in alignment to the defined project timelines and strategy.
  • Proactively tracks and manages risks and resolutions of material-related issues or queries in a timely manner.
  • Maintains information in NPD PM databases related to materials including, but not limited to: code creations, orders, delivery and testing dates.
  • Liaises with appropriate stakeholders, including Global Intellectual Property (GIP) and GAPIP, to ensure that API strategy (3rd party supply or internal, API form/salt) is developed in accordance with R&D governance processes.
  • Provides feedback from the Analytical Operations material assessment to GAPIP to decide the best source of API balancing cost, quality and delivery attributes.
  • Tracks delivery performance from all material suppliers and prepares monthly performance reports.
  • Periodically evaluates non-moving or expired APIs, excipients and coordination for disposal.
  • Utilizes the models, systems, methodologies and software of NPD Project Management to plan manage and report/communicate API progress/performance.
  • Contributes to the development and improvement of the operations of NPD Project Management, on an ongoing basis.

Job Requirements
  • Education
    • Sc. in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical, engineering, health sciences or a related field required.
    • PMP is an asset
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent conflict management skills
    • Demonstrated experience in supervising, influencing and coordinating the complex activities and interaction of staff, including non-direct reports
    • Strong organisational skills; ability to work independently and manage priorities
    • Strong Leadership skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the generic new product development process
    • Excellent understanding of Project Management principles and practice in a complex environment
    • Knowledge of Canadian ,US, EU and AUS regulatory guidelines an asset
    • Knowledge of and experience with the MS-Office suite of products; with particular emphasis on MS-Word, MS-Excel, and MS-Project (or other PM software)
  • Experience
    • 5+ years progressive experience the pharmaceutical industry
    • 3+ years proven experience in project management
    • 1+ years proven experience in managing API supplies
