We are looking for applicants with;

  • Grade 10
  • Valid Class 5 vehicle license required
  • One (1) year of recent related experience
  • or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Detailed Overview

Performs routine maintenance duties related to building, grounds and equipment. Transports supplies to and from the Care Centre.
Responsibilities

  1. Cleans entrances, driveways and walkways; clears snow from such areas as walkways and building entrances as required.
  2. Changes light bulbs; replaces parts such as plugs, switches and sockets; performs routine tasks related to the changing of electric motors, pumps and filters, as directed.
  3. Inspects equipment such as wheelchairs, commode chairs, furniture, beds and other movable equipment and performs routine servicing such as cleaning, oiling, greasing, checking fluids and tightening loose parts and/or replacing broken/worn parts, in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  4. Performs labour work involved in building repairs and modifications; prepares surfaces for finishing and applies paint and other finishing products, as required.
  5. Moves furniture and other objects as required.
  6. Loads, unloads, checks and transports perishable and non-perishable supplies to and from the Care Centre which includes the delivery of meals, medical cassettes, lab work and mail.
  7. Performs routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment by cleaning, lubricating, changing oil, replacing spark plugs and filters, and topping up battery and other fluids; reports concerns such as repairs required.
  8. Performs routine maintenance to sidewalks, fountains, pools, parking gates and trellises; cleans and maintains water levels in fountains and pools.
  9. Receives deliveries, counts cases, checks for visible damage and transports supplies to departments.
  10. Checks buildings, equipment and grounds for malfunctions and/or or hazards such as lighting problems, spillages and to ensure exit corridors remain free of obstacles; reports concerns/issues according to established procedures.
  11. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

Grade 10, plus one (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Valid Class 5 vehicle license required.
