NL Marine Services Inc. (NL Marine) is a Newfoundland and Labrador owned and operated company that operates a wide range of vessels that support the province's oil and gas and aquaculture industries. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team in the role of Captain for one of our oil and gas support vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the vessel, including safe navigation, regulatory adherence, cleanliness, safe handling of all cargo and management of all personnel.
  • Capable of identifying potential hazards associated with the operation of the vessel.
  • Proficient in maintaining records as per regulations and company policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining the ship's certificates and documentation.
  • Oversee inspections of all safety and emergency equipment.
  • Schedule and execute routine emergency drills as required by NL Marine and Transport Canada.
  • Manage the day -to-day operations of all vessels, including preventative maintenance oversight, scheduling of crew and supplying the vessels.
  • Implement, prepare and review monthly vessel reports.
  • Promote a safe, courteous atmosphere and strive to make improvements in a professional manner.
  • Effective team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment; and willingness to step in and do hands on work when required.

Qualifications

  • 3000 Gross Ton, Near Coastal
  • Solutions -focused, experienced professional who welcomes challenge and change.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects in a demanding, fast -paced work environment.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
