Exciting Opportunity for Chief Engineer Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join our team at Algoma Central Corporation. As a Chief Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the management of our dry-bulk fleet, which includes gearless bulk carriers and self-unloading vessels.

The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and Engineering Superintendent to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Engine Room Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the maintenance and repair of the fleet's engine rooms
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with the Captain and Engineering Superintendent to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the highest level of technical expertise
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives to improve fleet efficiency

Requirements:

  • First-Class Engineer, Motor Ship certification issued by Transport Canada
  • STCW Certificates
  • Marine Medical certification issued by Transport Canada
  • Canadian passport or permanent residence status
  • Ship Security Officer certification
