Job Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable documents, prepare and issue cheques using manual and computerized financial systems
  • Reconcile a variety of documents and provide status of accounts payable and receivable
  • Respond to telephone and counter inquiries
  • Provide information on status of cases and procedural instructions to clients, legal profession and other agencies
  • Receive, review and issue court orders and compose routine correspondence
  • Operate cash register and other office equipment
  • Collect all relevant fees, process payments and issue invoices
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the court office

Please note: You may be required to travel to other court locations.

Requirements Technical Knowledge:
  • Experience in applying government financial administration, policies, guidelines, and directives to ensure financial records are accurate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of court practices and procedures to process and prepare court documents, prepare correspondence, maintain filing systems and record keeping and provide administrative/clerical support
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cash control and bookkeeping practices to process and accept payments, balance financial transactions, reconcile a variety of documents, manage financial accounts and prepare budget
  • Mathematical skills to balance cash and ability to operate a cash register
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Experience and established skills in communicating effectively with various stakeholders and clients in a court services environment
  • Excellent client services skills and experience in serving clients at the counter
  • Writing skills to prepare correspondence and memoranda to employees and the public
  • Tact and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
Organizational and Analytical Skills:
  • Organizational skills to identify and set priorities and complete work to strict deadlines
  • Attention to detail in reviewing legal documents
  • Analytical skills to determine clients' needs and advise on missing requirements or proper completion of legal documents
Computer Skills:
  • Ability to effectively use personal computer and related software (example: MSWord/Excel E-mail, Intranet, Integrated Court Offences Network (ICON) Case Management Program, FRANK)
