Physician Associate

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician Associate to join our Hospitalist program. As a key member of our team, you will provide primary clinical care within the Hospitalist Program as a Physician extender, working under the supervision of an attending member of the Hospitalist Program.
The successful candidate will have postgraduate training and independent practice in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, and will meet the requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License to act as an Associate Physician from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). They will also have a good command of written and spoken English, and be able to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills.
The Physician Associate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders on charts and responding to emergencies, in consultation with the Preceptor and attending staff. They will also participate in a directed continuing professional development (CPD) program, focused on enhancing competencies related to the Hospitalist scope of practice.
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care, and will be able to work effectively as part of a team. They will also be able to participate in on-call responsibilities of the service, and will be required to undergo CPSNS-directed supervision under a preceptorship model of skill development and assessment.
