About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreation Aide to join our team at Optima Living. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a vital role in delivering recreation activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage Residents through regular conversation, building strong relationships and fostering a sense of community.
  • Assist with Program Coordination and implementation, ensuring a seamless delivery of activities and events.
  • Provide One-on-One Support to residents, addressing their individual needs and concerns.
  • Observe and Report on resident care and services, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained.
  • Coordinate Volunteers and Community Resources, building partnerships and securing support for our residents.
  • Collaborate with Peers to coordinate activities, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for residents.
  • Manage Recreation Equipment, including inventory and maintenance concerns, to ensure a safe and functional environment.
  • Event and Activity Setup and Cleanup, ensuring a smooth and efficient delivery of activities.
  • Operate in Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, prioritizing the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
  • Other Duties as Assigned, supporting operational requirements and contributing to the overall success of our community.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in a Residential Care Setting is considered an asset, demonstrating a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by residents.
  • Completion of High School Diploma, ensuring a solid foundation in education and communication skills.
  • Valid Provincial Class 4 Driver's License is an asset, enabling the ability to transport residents and equipment as needed.
  • Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset, demonstrating a commitment to resident safety and well-being.
  • ProServe Certificate is preferred, showcasing expertise in serving and supporting residents.
  • Exceptional Interpersonal Skills with peers, residents, visitors, and operational partners, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.
  • Superior Organizational Skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills, ensuring clear and concise communication with residents, staff, and external partners.
  • Demonstrate the Ability to Prioritize and Problem-Solve, addressing challenges and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
