Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Recreation and Cultural Services department is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our inclusive recreation team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to participants in our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to participants in inclusive recreation programs, including those with special needs and disabilities.
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure the delivery of safe and effective programs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for participants with complex needs.
  • Conduct health assessments and provide health education to participants and their families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance program delivery and participant outcomes.
Requirements
  • Completion of a 4-year B.Sc.N. degree or 2-3 year RN diploma or RPN diploma and proof of current license.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in Special Needs/Pediatric/Rehab/Community with current technical/practical nursing skills.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates.
  • Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate.
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including those with special needs and disabilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
