Supervisor, Rental Operations

Grouse Mountain Resort is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to lead our Rental Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our rental locations, ensuring maximum efficiency, customer flow, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the safe and efficient operation of Grouse Mountain's Rental locations, including the Outpost, Group Rentals, Fireside Hut, and Slide Zone buildings.
  • Complete opening and closing duties of the department and coordinate day-to-day operations of the rentals team.
  • Handle cash and ensure accounting procedures are followed, including daily cash outs and float reconciliation.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and develop up to 60 individuals for various front-line areas in Rental Operations.
  • Complete internal payroll, data entry, performance reviews, daily logs, and other company documentation according to outlined standards.
  • Manage the guest experience and ensure service standards are met or exceeded to achieve a high Net Promotor Score.
  • Achieve and maintain outstanding customer relations with internal and external guests, including responding to customer comments and concerns while displaying a Guest Obsessed attitude at all times.
  • Create, implement, and revise training and procedures, including manuals, presentations, and memos.
  • Promote a positive work environment and culture by leading by example and maintaining strong and supportive relationships with all staff.
  • Ensure staff communication sites are updated regularly with company communication, revised policies/procedures, guest satisfaction scores, and operational information.
  • Meet safety and manufacturer guidelines for all rental equipment adjustments and repairs.
  • Manage rental inventory, maintenance of rental equipment, tuning and repair machines, and general troubleshooting.
  • Maintain standards for merchandizing, stocking, rotation, and storing of products and inventory.
  • Engage with the management team, demonstrating proactive, positive, and effective communication to facilitate and support teamwork and cooperation.
  • Set and contribute to department goals for increasing sales and improving profits, including managing payroll and adjusting to reflect business needs.

Requirements:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, customer service, and organizational skills through a strong work ethic, innovative thinking, and a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests in English in a respectful and enthusiastic manner by email, over the telephone, and in person.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on equipment accuracy and safety.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate duties amongst a team.
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude, with the ability to thrive in a high-volume, challenging environment.
  • Successful completion of secondary school required, with some post-secondary education preferred.
  • At least 2 years previous experience supervising employees in a quick service or outdoor recreation environment preferred.
  • An avid skier or snowboarder with experience in the snow sports industry required, and experience in a rental shop is considered an asset.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, and experience with Siriusware system an asset, including cash handling and cash-out procedures.
  • Available for five days per week and to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions:

Hours of Operation are weather dependent. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, shoveling, and other forms of manual tasks.
