Job Description

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $ $51.22 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)

Status: Temporary Full-Time ( Until March 6, 2026)

Working under the direction of the Operational Manager and in collaboration with other members of the inter-disciplinary team, the Occupational therapist will assess and treat patients, delegate appropriate duties to OTA/ PTA, provide student supervision and maintain best practice standards in accordance with UHN policies and procedures. This position supports General Surgery, Thoracics and Surgical Oncology however, the patient population may change depending on department needs.

Qualifications

Duties

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Toronto General Hospital within the framework of patient centered care
  • Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team
  • Provide education to patients, their families, occupational therapy students and interdisciplinary team members
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees and quality initiatives in the Department and relevant Programs/Services
  • Assist with coverage of other service areas where required
  • Perform all other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (B.Sc. (OT)) or equivalent
    Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in an acute care hospital is preferred
  • Experience with acute patients in Surgery or Oncology preferred
  • Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance
  • Experience with splinting, neurological dysfunction, as well as seating and positioning is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
  • Experience with GIM, Cardiovascular, MSICU, & Nephrology patients an asset
