As a Shop Labourer, Student, you will learn equipment operation and help load/unload plasma table operation. You will also assist Journeyperson welders, mechanics, and machinists, follow directions from peers and supervisors, and maintain a strong focus on shop cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn equipment operation and help load/unload plasma table operation
  • Assist Journeyperson welders, mechanics, and machinists
  • Follow directions from peers and supervisors
  • Maintain a strong focus on shop cleanliness
  • Track and manage inventory on consumables and usage
  • Arrange and organize materials for jobs
  • Show some skill with hand tools and assembly and/or fabrication skills
  • Duties may include moving machinery, tools, and products to correct shop locations using an overhead crane/telehandler or forklift
  • Duties in the manufacturing and/or refurbishment process for general labor tasks
  • Painting components
  • Prepping components for shipping
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong work ethic and mechanical ability
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Welding/grinding skills an asset
  • Overhead crane experience an asset
  • Previous related experience an asset
  • Valid Driver's License and own transportation required
  • OSSA, CSTS, Class C First Aid an asset
  • Must have a strong safety focus
  • Progression to trades positions possible with experience
