Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Shop Labourer, Student. This role will provide an opportunity to learn and develop skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn equipment operation and assist in loading/unloading plasma table operation.
  • Assist in mechanical assembly tasks, including dressing dippers, doors, and saddleblocks.
  • Track and manage inventory of consumables and usage.
  • Arrange and organize materials for jobs.
  • Show proficiency in hand tools and assembly and/or fabrication skills.
  • Assist in moving machinery, tools, and products to correct shop locations using an overhead crane/telehandler or forklift.
  • Perform general labor tasks in the manufacturing and/or refurbishment process.
  • Paint components.
  • Prepare components for shipping, including strapping pallets and arranging with the warehouse.
  • Assist journeyperson welders, mechanics, and machinists, following directions from peers and supervisors.
  • Maintain a strong focus on shop cleanliness and removing excess material/garbage daily.

Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and mechanical ability.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Welding/grinding skills an asset.
  • Overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Previous related experience an asset.
  • Valid Driver's License and own transportation required.
  • OSSA, CSTS, Class C First Aid an asset.
  • Strong safety focus.
  • Progression to trades positions possible with experience.
