Medical Device Reprocessing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Reprocessing Specialist to join our team at Pan Am Clinic. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the processing and sterilization of medical instruments.
Key Responsibilities- Process and sterilize medical instruments and equipment to ensure they are safe for use in patient care.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of sterilization techniques and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including washer/decontaminators, pasteurizers, and heat sealers.
- Prepare and package sterilized instruments and equipment for distribution to clinical areas.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless delivery of sterilized instruments and equipment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Sterile Processing operations.
- Current Medical Device/Operating Room experience required.
- Successful completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must be fluent in written and verbal English, and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be versatile and rotate through and assist with all assignments.
- Must be capable of working under pressure and performing a wide range of duties that may require independent action.
This role requires frequent exposure to infectious body and blood-borne organisms when working with soiled equipment, and toxic effects when working with ETO sterilizers and WHMIS products.
Position involves meticulous attention to detail with regards to technical and mechanical ability.
Must maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Pushing and pulling sterilizer carts and supply carts as required.
Walking is a major portion of activity when sterilizing and transporting.
Bending and stooping.
Loading and unloading of carts.
Lifting and positioning of articles in excess of 14 pounds.
Repetitive hand arm and shoulder motions and long periods of standing.
Potential for burns from working with steam sterilizers and hot carts.
