About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work as a Health Care Assistant, Residential Care with our team at Fraser Health. As a Health Care Assistant, you will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide person-centered care to diverse populations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide person-centered care by assisting residents/clients in activities of daily living, such as toileting, bathing, skin care, grooming, dressing, and personal laundry.
- Participate in the organization and implementation of established leisure activities as outlined in the care plan, and encourage resident/client participation.
- Make tea, coffee, toast, and assist residents/clients who require help with their dining experience.
- Observe and document any changes in resident's/client's behavior and abilities, and report to the interdisciplinary team as appropriate.
- Perform procedures such as taking temperature and weight as directed, and obtain laboratory specimens.
- Utilize mechanical aids such as lifts, wheelchairs, and stretchers to transfer and position residents/clients in comfortable and therapeutic body positions.
- Clean and maintain equipment as needed, and report any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate staff.
We are looking for a Health Care Assistant with:
- Grade 10 graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Food Safety Certificate Level 1.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to teach.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
