Geriatric Clinician Job Description

Join our multidisciplinary team as a Geriatric Clinician and make a meaningful difference in the lives of mentally ill elderly clients.

About the Role

As a Geriatric Clinician, you will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to provide assessment, treatment, consultation, and follow-up services to mentally ill elderly clients. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping clients navigate complex psychosocial situations and achieve optimal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to elderly clients and their caregivers, including comprehensive psychosocial assessments and treatment planning.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans using a variety of psychosocial treatment modalities, crisis intervention, and family counseling.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and provide consultation and support to families and caregivers.
  • Facilitate client and caregiver utilization of community services and provide liaison with relevant agencies.
  • Act as an advocate on behalf of clients and their families, and provide crisis intervention as needed.
Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Clinician with a Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, or a related health discipline. A minimum of one year's recent experience working with Geriatric psychiatry clients is required.

Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in working with older adults with age-related mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with professionals, clients, and caregivers.
  • Ability to provide formal and informal education, and to network with other services and agencies.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, and ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
