Job Description

The senior manager of compliance is responsible for supporting the compliance and risk function of the Visa Canada, reporting to the director of compliance. The senior manager of compliance ensures that all policies, procedures, and regulations are followed and enforced compliance with the Prominent Payment Systems (PPS) designation and the Retail Payments Activities (RPA) Act. The senior manager of compliance also provides guidance and support to the business units, monitors and reports on compliance risks and issues.

  • Develop and implement the compliance strategy and framework for Visa Canada, in alignment with the Bank of Canada regulations.
  • Manage and maintain the regulatory compliance framework for Visa Canada's PPS designation and RPA Act, including developing and updating policies, procedures, and controls, conducting risk assessments, and reporting on compliance performance.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business units on compliance matters.
  • Conduct compliance audits and assessments, identify and mitigate compliance risks, and report on compliance performance and incidents.
  • Support the CRO and Director of Compliance for Visa Canada in developing and executing the risk and compliance strategy and vision for the Canadian market.
  • Keep apprised of changing regulatory requirements and ensure subject matter expertise remains current. Inform all relevant stakeholders of new information as it evolves.
  • Design and deliver training and awareness programs to promote a culture of compliance and risk management across Visa Canada.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • Experience working in payments or financial industry is preferred.
  • A strong understanding of the Canadian payments landscape, the BoC's oversight framework, and Visa's products, services, and operations
  • Strong collaboration skills and teamwork with proven ability to establish productive working relationships.
  • High level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism, with a commitment to compliance culture and values.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and innovate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a continuous learning mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SharePoint, Generative AI and demonstrated strength in developing presentations and collateral materials for use with key stakeholders.
