About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to lead our Development Review team at Conservation Halton. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and permit review teams, ensuring that our services are delivered effectively and efficiently in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall development review programs and teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Conservation Halton's policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement annual business and work plans, as well as cost recovery strategies for planning and regulatory services.
  • Recruit, select, supervise, train, develop, and retain staff, ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Maintain service delivery standards, monitor progress, and provide support towards meeting strategic objectives, initiatives, and activities in the corporate strategic plan.
  • Foster positive working relationships with municipalities, agencies, and other stakeholders, including the development and agricultural communities.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years of related work experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
  • Degree in planning, geography, or related discipline; graduate or post-graduate degree considered an asset.
  • Registered Professional Planner.
  • Experience providing leadership to a multi-disciplinary matrix team.
  • Training in dispute resolution/mediation.
  • Project management and change management experience.
  • Working knowledge of statutes and regulatory controls affecting land use planning and development, including the Conservation Authorities Act and Ontario Regulation 41/24.
