Ward Clerk position available at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, providing administrative support to the health care team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Description:

The Ward Clerk acts as a member of the health care team, performing clerical, receptionist, and related duties as directed. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the values, vision, goals, and objectives of the Region/facility/unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the health care team, including patient care and medical records.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as answering phones, responding to emails, and maintaining records.
  • Assist with scheduling, patient flow, and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous patient care experience preferred.
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required.
  • Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills minimum 40 wpm required.
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written).
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to operate information technology equipment as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to function effectively in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions.

Additional Information:

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
