OBJECTIVE

Safety Express recognizes the value that our Warehouse team brings to our organization. A Delivery Driver is responsible for transporting goods or products from a distribution center, warehouse, or retail location to customers' designated destinations. They play a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, providing excellent customer service, and representing the company in a professional manner. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who thrive in challenging and rapidly changing work settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivery Operations: Safely and efficiently operate a delivery vehicle, such as a van or truck, to transport goods to customers' locations. Follow assigned routes or use GPS navigation to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Package Handling: Load, unload, and secure packages or items in the delivery vehicle to prevent damage during transit. Check and verify the accuracy of delivery contents against delivery documents.
  • Timely Deliveries: Adhere to delivery schedules and deadlines to ensure customers receive their orders within the specified timeframe. Communicate with customer service or manager.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries by being courteous, friendly, and professional. Answer any customer inquiries and address concerns or complaints in a polite and helpful manner.
  • Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery confirmation signatures, receipts, and any other required documentation. Complete necessary paperwork or electronic forms associated with deliveries.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain the delivery vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety policies while operating the delivery vehicle. Practice safe driving techniques and maintain a clean driving record. Report any safety hazards or potential risks to supervisors immediately.
  • Route Optimization: Efficiently plan and organize delivery routes to maximize productivity and minimize travel time. Optimize routes to reduce fuel consumption and transportation costs.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with the customer service team and manager. Provide updates on delivery status and report any issues or challenges encountered during deliveries including, but not limited to, any delays or issues that may impact delivery times.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a basic understanding of the products being delivered to answer customer questions and handle product-related inquiries.
  • Testing: Competent in the understanding of and ability to perform DOP and FIT testing, obtain a basic knowledge of the variety of equipment to be tested, and adhering to all operating procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to warehouse responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a delivery driver and warehousing or in a related driving role is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills
  • Familiarity with local roads, routes, and traffic patterns.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy packages, if required.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
