Summary

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced leader to join our dynamic team. We are seeking a Senior Manager – Data Platform Operations & Automation to lead, manage & automate the operations and maintenance of our critical data platforms, ensuring seamless performance, high availability, and continuous improvement to meet the demand of our critical data operations needs from batch to real time streaming. This role will handle building and implementing a robust automation practice on Enterprise wide data platform to streamline processes and enhance efficiency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for the operations and maintenance of our data platforms. This includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met, and providing technical guidance to the team.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive automation strategy to optimize platform operations. This involves identifying opportunities for automation, designing and implementing automation solutions, and ensuring effective integration with existing systems.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment on platform requirements and priorities. This includes working closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business users to understand their needs and ensure seamless integration of data platforms.
  • Proactively identify and address potential operational risks and challenges. This includes conducting regular risk assessments, implementing preventative measures, and developing contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Develop and implement robust monitoring and alerting systems to ensure real-time visibility into platform performance and health. This includes setting up alerts for critical events, analyzing performance metrics, and taking proactive steps to address any issues.
  • Establish and maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement. This involves identifying opportunities to enhance platform efficiency, reliability, and scalability, implementing best practices, and leveraging emerging technologies to optimize operations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of platform architecture and design. This includes providing technical expertise and guidance to ensure the platform is scalable, resilient, and meets the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Stay up to date of industry trends and best practices in platform operations and automation. This includes attending conferences, reading industry publications, and participating in professional development activities to ensure continuous learning and growth.
  • Mentor and develop team members to foster a culture of excellence and innovation. This includes providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth to help team members reach their full potential.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members. This includes defining hiring requirements, conducting interviews, and ensuring a smooth transition for new hires.
Critical Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading complex data platform operations and building automation practices. This includes experience with cloud-based platforms, data warehousing, and big data technologies.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing high-performing engineering teams. This includes experience in setting goals, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Deep understanding of data platform architectures, technologies, and best practices. This includes experience with various data platforms, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes, and data pipelines.
  • Strong experience with automation tools and technologies, including scripting languages, orchestration tools, and CI/CD pipelines. This includes experience with tools such as Python, Ansible, Jenkins, and Terraform.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP. This includes experience with cloud-based services, infrastructure management, and security best practices.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. This includes experience in preparing presentations, writing reports, and engaging in technical discussions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This includes the ability to identify and diagnose issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills. This includes the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results. This includes a passion for excellence, a desire to continuously learn and grow, and a willingness to go the extra mile.
