Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer - Classification.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education Required: Academically qualified with a recognized university bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.
  • Experience Required: 8+ years supporting Naval Shipbuilding projects.
  • Nova Scotia Professional Engineer (P.Eng) License or equivalent Professional Engineering License.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desirable.
  • Experience in managing subcontracted design agent design activities and deliverables.
  • Experience with managing deliverables required to support naval ship classification and certification.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight for all classification society activities related to Appraisal in Principle and full Plan Approval.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and the delivery of future revisions of the CSC Tailoring Document.
  • Act as primary point of contact between the classification society, ISI technical teams, and the delivery teams for the design agent subcontractors.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all documentation required for achieving Appraisal in Principal and full Plan Approval is delivered to the classification society.
  • Provide technical and programmatic support for classification and certification working groups.
