We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Moxy by Marriott in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to maintain the overall operation of the maintenance department and ensure the hotel's equipment and systems are functioning properly.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for:

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction at all times by modeling and adhering to the Guest Service Standards
  • Ensuring compliance with all company, state, local and federal policies/guidelines pertaining to the maintenance of a clean, safe environment for associates, guests and vendors
  • Ensuring proper operations of the hotel's equipment and systems, including life safety, telecommunications, key control, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pool, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment and any other related systems and equipment
  • Handling maintenance request orders in a prompt and courteous manner, including logging and follow-up
  • Communicating with management on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s) and related systems
  • Supervising external contractors who may be employed by the hotel to carry out maintenance work
  • Adhering to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Basic computational ability and computer skills
  • Preferred knowledge of mechanical equipment, plumbing and electrical systems, and maintenance of records of power, water and fuel consumption
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations
