About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Director to join our team in the rail sector. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a construction management division within the Metrolinx organization, overseeing the delivery of over 50 live rail projects across the GTA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a culture of health, safety, and wellbeing excellence, driving transformation of best-practice construction delivery.
  • Work closely with senior Metrolinx directors to develop and implement construction strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Provide strategic leadership and technical construction expertise across a multi-billion-dollar rail portfolio.
  • Ensure that construction aspects of the program are technically sound, evidence-based, and consistent with client and stakeholders' priorities, requirements, and expectations.
  • Manage the creation of secure online daily field logs, including photo documentation, to track progress, significant events, and milestones.
  • Support the development of mitigation and/or incentives to reduce risks associated with utility and construction interfaces.
  • Develop and implement a safety culture that ensures core values are met.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience as a construction director in the rail sector, with a strong understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, planning, delivery, and site logistics.
  • Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams, with a proven track record of delivering high-profile and high-value projects.
  • Commercial and detailed understanding of construction contract law, with an understanding of multiple contract types.
  • Good oral, written communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to create and deliver persuasive and engaging presentations to a wide range of audiences.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE, or equivalent, with demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programs, with deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders, with knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
