We seek a Permanent Part-Time Cook to join our team in a critical role that impacts the lives of residents and ignites human connection.

As a Cook, you will set up equipment, prepare meals, and ensure quality control. You will also monitor food supplies, advise team leaders, and assume responsibility for departmental operations in the absence of the team leader.

Your day will be filled with the following key responsibilities:

  • Setting up equipment and supplies for food preparation
  • Preparing meals and snacks according to production sheets, recipes, and menu documents
  • Providing for prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion-controlled quantities
  • Monitoring quality of food supplies received and advising team leaders of problems and making recommendations for corrective action
  • Assuming responsibility for departmental operations, including menu changes and requisitioning and purchasing food and other supplies
  • Assisting in the orientation and training of new team members
  • Attending in-service meetings

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 minimum education required
  • Graduate of a recognized college food preparation program and willingness to obtain Red Seal certification
  • One year of experience in volume food preparation, catering, and special events preparation
  • A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve certificate
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and a commitment to meeting the goals and standards of the residence

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in large quantity food preparation and cooking in Health, Long Term Care, or Retirement Residence
  • Red Seal Designation
