Job Summary:

We are seeking highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) to join our Transfer Fleet team. As an EMR with BCEHS, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing patient care and transportation services throughout British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care and inter-facility transportation by ambulance, utilizing critical thinking and safe work practices.
  • Advocate for patients through effective communication with colleagues, allied health care professionals, and public safety partners.
  • Operate ambulances safely, including in challenging weather and remote areas.
  • Identify and address complex program or system-wide issues to enhance service delivery and patient care.

Requirements:

  • Current EMR license or higher, issued by EMALB.
  • Class 1, 2, or 4 BC driver's license (or out-of-province equivalent), or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Current driver's abstract demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Work permit for Canada (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong mental resiliency and maturity, with the ability to function in a dynamic environment.

Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity:

  • Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice.
  • Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
