Temporary Contract Position
Drive departmental brand strategy and execution of seasonal collections annually supporting the overall Product Vision.
Support and impact merchant strategic financial plan through strong financial acumen. Optimizing price, margin, styling, quality, and increasing market share in collaboration with Director of Merchandise.
Develop strategic assortment product plan through global market shop and trend research.
Provide color and trend assessment with competitive analysis to team and merchant partners. Deliver seasonal theme stories and colour palettes.
Oversea the design direction and execution of all seasonal artwork development.
Integrate seasonal corporate creative direction. Interpret color & trend for specific Division (Apparel, Home, GM) identifying new/growing categories.
Oversee delivery of the brand to customer through management of merchandising or MRS calendar. Coach direct reports: collaborate with sourcing and merchants to reach deadlines and all financial targets.
Co-ordinate across stakeholders, including merchant team, creative resources, external technical support, and domestic/global sourcing. Communicate between all teams and senior management to represent Divisional point of view
Provide input to improve vendor matrix development (domestic and direct). Utilize vendor matrix, assess current vendor performance, and build strategic vendor partnerships. Identify strategic product and component (fabric/material, production) leverage opportunities with domestic and direct vendors, Walmart US, and Asda, and support Merchant team in buy trip negotiations.
Build the team through people development, motivation, and engagement. Accountable for developing direct reports (4-6 people) to meet overall team objectives and ensure brand strategic vision is achieved.
Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role
- College Certificate or Diploma
- Must be able to travel on business as needed
- Ability to identify & interpret trends and execute to a commercial level
- Knowledge of garment & fabric construction, finishes and techniques as well as factory production (import & domestic)
- Experience in kids specific design and development for apparel
- Experience with the development and curation of apparel graphic artwork
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
