Regional Medical Staff Lead

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Medical Staff Lead to oversee the medical components of the planetary health strategy, ensuring the inclusion of environmental and social considerations in decision-making and planning of clinical services. This role requires strong leadership and a commitment to planetary health, with a focus on developing planetary health familiarity and fluency in teams and clinicians across Fraser Health.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and oversight, acting as the primary liaison between key clinical stakeholders to establish climate change and health governance, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and protocols in environmentally sustainable healthcare.
- Quality Assurance: Incorporate environmental metrics into quality and safety reporting, establish environmentally sustainable procurement policies, and ensure that all planetary health clinical interventions meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
- Team Management: Work with counterparts across portfolios to establish the functional leadership structure, ensure consultation and collaboration with executive leadership, other key stakeholders, external agencies, and government as required to lead the implementation of the Fraser Health Planetary Health Strategy.
- Training and Development: Collaborate with operational leadership to develop and implement training programs for planetary health network champions and other clinical staff, and keep abreast of and educate team members on the latest advancements in environmentally sustainable clinical practices.
- Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with sustainable healthcare organizations and other healthcare providers to advance and embed sustainability into healthcare planning.
- Research and Evaluation: Co-lead with the ED of Planetary Health and Network Planetary Health champions on the development and execution of evaluation to identify environmental impacts and other co-benefits, and use data-driven insights to inform service delivery and quality improvement initiatives.
- Valid licensure to practice medicine in British Columbia, Canada.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with a strong background in clinical sustainability and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience within a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and breadth of internal and external stakeholders.
