As a Hardware Engineering Lead at Spire, you will be responsible for the overall engineering development of a Spire design. This includes owning electrical and mechanical design, developing test plans, driving prototyping and testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, and providing production support to the manufacturing team.
Requirements- Must have a degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of electronics theory, including component knowledge and analogue and digital circuitry expertise
- Experience with PCB design, including schematic capture and PCB layout using enterprise software with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Knowledge of high-speed digital layout design practices and signal integrity
- Experience with digital communication interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, LVDS, and Ethernet
- Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, etc.
- Experience using mechanical CAD tools, such as SolidWorks, and mechanical DFM
- Strong debugging experience and fault identification
- Experience with rapid prototyping
- Knowledge of RF theory and circuitry, including power amps, filters, and layout
- Knowledge of RF systems engineering
- Experience with environmental testing
- Basic software skills, including familiarity with Linux, Python, scripting, and testing automation
- Thermal design experience
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required.
