The Adjudication Supervisor, reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations, oversees a centralized Adjudication and Data Processing branch by managing the daily operational issues. This includes establishing the Branch work priorities, balancing the workflow, resolving employee relations, information technology issues in order to ensure the accurate, timely billing and distribution of all BC Ambulance Crew Reports received from the various Regional offices.


What you'll do

  • Supervises a team of Adjudicators by performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments, checking and prioritizing work, providing guidance and advice to facilitate resolutions to work problems, correction problems as required and monitoring operations to ensure standards are met.
  • Reviews and approves timesheets in the Scheduling and Staffing System each pay period for Adjudication staff.
  • Assists Manager, Financial Operations with various staff functions related to selection, performance evaluations, orientation and training, attendance management, grievances and disputes by providing input into employee performance evaluations, determining orientation and training requirements, assisting with staff selection by sitting on interview panels and providing input regarding evaluation of candidates and documenting performance problems for the Manager's attention and follow-up.
  • Ensures accuracy of the Billing System by monitoring and reconciling daily data transmission to ensure that data is entered is accurate and complete and the data base accurately reflects the content of each file and account and resolves issues identified during daily data edit routines to reduce lost revenue.
  • Provides billing inquiry telephone support including investigating and resolving queries from the public and other organizations and agencies by researching available databases; redirecting patients to appropriate departments or agencies in accordance with established procedures; and processing changes to accounts per information received from callers.
  • Liaison with stakeholders including WorkSafe BC, Coroners, Health Authority Staff, Dispatch, and Unit Chiefs and Superintendents to resolve issues relating to missing or incorrect information on patient care reports.
  • Works in collaboration with the Manager, Financial Operations by assisting with setting annual budgets, investigating variances, and identifies and/or recommends changes to processes, procedures, and /or systems.
  • Prepares training and procedure manuals, provides training and tests new/upgrades to software as required.
  • Oversees system functioning; identifies issues and recommends system changes and enhancements to BCAS managers and the BCAS information Technology staff; works with IT support staff to correct ad hoc system failures or problems.
  • Creates Daily/Weekly/Monthly statistical reports of all outstanding system records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Grade 12, three years' recent, related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to operate related equipment
