About the Fund Development Officer Role

Habitat for Humanity Niagara is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fund Development Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Philanthropy and Major Gifts team, you will play a critical role in advancing our mission to provide affordable housing solutions to hard-working families in the Niagara Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward donors and prospects to secure funding for Habitat Niagara's programs and services.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Manage and coordinate logistics for Habitat Niagara's Build-Day program, including securing donors and sponsors.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities, including grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, individuals, and potential or actual sources of funding.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to support corporate and employee engagement, event sponsorship, and donor stewardship.
  • Work closely with marketing and communications to support maximum participation and success of fundraising initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of experience in progressive fundraising with demonstrated success in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience with non-profit fundraising and stewardship of accounts.
  • Intermediate to Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience and knowledge of donor database systems and fundraising software, specifically Raiser's Edge.
Preferred Experiences and Assets
  • CFRE certification and/or relevant post-secondary qualifications.
  • Familiarity with the Niagara Region and its philanthropic landscape.
  • Post-graduate certificate in fundraising, non-profit management, leadership, or related field.
  • Current AFP membership.
