Job Summary

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our Home Care team. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality care and support to clients in their homes, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and home support services to clients, as outlined in their care plans.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Perform rehabilitation care activities, including exercises and therapeutic interventions, under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and/or Physiotherapist.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, promoting their overall well-being and quality of life.
Requirements
  • Recent and related direct client care experience in Home Care and/or a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant Program, such as the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) Rehabilitation Assistant Program.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle required.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned workload.
  • Effective English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to perform as a team member and seek assistance as necessary.
Working Conditions

This position involves extensive physical activity, including lifting, transferring, and transporting patients and equipment. You may be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress. You may encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
