Ski Trainer/Instructor

The Big White Ski & Board School is seeking an experienced Ski Trainer/Instructor to join our team for the winter season. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing training and instruction to our clients, while also contributing to the development and improvement of our training programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide training on the GAP program, teaching participants using the CSIA methodology and aiming to complete the CSIA Level 1 and 2 courses.
  • Conduct in-house staff training for Big White Ski & Board School Ski Instructors, focusing on developing their teaching and skiing capabilities.
  • Teach Adult & Kids snowboard lessons in group and private settings, using the CSIA teaching methodology and following Big White Ski & Board School's progression levels.
  • Evaluate lesson participants and complete achievement records as necessary.
  • Ensure a safe and fun learning experience for clients, while working with safety in mind to safeguard guests and fellow workers.
  • Evaluate instructors' lessons, providing written and verbal feedback for staff evaluations.
  • Work cooperatively with other program trainers and Ski & Board School Staff to ensure effective public relations and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the training program, working with the Technical Director.
  • Act as a role model for Ski & Board School instructors, fostering an approachable and open level of communication.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience training staff or GAP participants in a ski school environment.
  • CSIA certification and willingness to attend evaluator training as required.
  • Three or more seasons of previous ski instructing experience working in organized settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CSIA Level 1 Evaluator (TD module) or above.
  • CASI or international equivalent certifications.
  • Experience in teaching children.
  • Experience in leadership or mentor roles.
Compensation:

Starting wage: $28.85, plus sales incentives with increases dependent on further relevant instructing certifications and time-based accruals.
