**Nurse Practitioner, Student Health Services** A highly skilled Nurse Practitioner is sought to provide primary health care to the diverse UBC student community, working collaboratively with family physicians, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals. Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner will work within the context of a client-centered care model, UBC Student Health Services standards of practice and patient care guidelines, and in accordance with the College of Registered Nurses of BC standards of practice and patient care guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide primary health care to students, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • Collaborate with family physicians, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Research and explore internal and external resources to make appropriate referrals
  • Provide leadership in improving health care for equity-deserving students
  • Plan and participate in leading group sessions for patients
  • Liaise with Managers, Student Support Services, and internal and external health care providers to provide continuity of care
  • Participate in health-related committees and contribute to the development of health services for students
  • Maintain and document all information related to patient visits
  • Act as a patient advocate to protect and promote their rights
Requirements
  • Masters of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner degree
  • Registered Nurses of BC (CRNBC) as an Advanced Practice Nurse - Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience working in acute or outpatient mental health settings or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health assessment and diagnostic categorization
  • Knowledge of adolescent and young adult health issues and disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care for diverse populations
  • Proven sensibility and appreciation of the role that gender, race, disability, gender identity, sexuality, social background play in the experience of health and wellbeing
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and deal effectively with clients, their families, staff, and faculty
  • Ability to teach health topics and provide health education and information
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
Working Conditions

The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with family physicians, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to students. The position will also involve working with Managers, Student Support Services, and internal and external health care providers to provide continuity of care.
