A day in the life of a Courtesy Clerk:

As a customer yourself, you understand the importance of fast, accurate, and friendly checkout service. The impressions shoppers get at the front end are crucial for building customer loyalty. This is where Courtesy Clerks come in to play a vital role in our store's success by bagging groceries and assisting customers with their purchases. No prior experience is needed as training will be provided.

  • No previous experience required

Key Responsibilities

  • Upholds and follows company procedures, standards, and policies in all situations
  • Greets customers politely and in a friendly manner
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service as per Safeway's programs
  • Wraps and bags merchandise
  • Ensures cleanliness of the store's front end
  • Collects and returns shopping carts
  • Assists with grocery carry outs
  • Performs sweeping of floors
  • Conducts price checks as necessary

  • Must have availability to work on Sundays (Alberta Only)

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting of up to 10-30 pounds
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs including waist and low-level lifts
  • Constant walking, reaching, and balancing
  • Frequent hand coordination, standing, bending, pushing, or pulling
  • Occasional work in variable outdoor conditions
