Seeking a Senior Specialist to identify IT requirements, strategies, and solutions for the Department of Finance, supporting financial applications software and participating in development.

Under the direction of the Director, Strategic Financial Planning and Allocation, the Senior Specialist, Strategic Financial Planning & Allocation is accountable for identifying information technology requirements, strategies, and solutions for the Department of Finance.

The Specialist is accountable for ongoing support of financial applications software, including maintenance, upgrading, testing, implementation, and participation in development, including building business cases and developing requirements documents for RFP through to implementation.

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience at a mid-financial level in similar areas of complexity, an Accounting diploma, and Business Administration diploma (DBA). A valid Class 5 driver's license is also required.

The Senior Specialist will possess critical thinking skills, analytical skills, communication skills, financial skills, and the ability to mobilize people, inspire, and lead by example. They will also have knowledge in First Nation and Metis history in Saskatchewan, exemplify ethical practices, professionalism, and personal integrity, and demonstrate a commitment to quality, safety, and improvement striving towards zero harm.

The Senior Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Identifying IT requirements, strategies, and solutions for the Department of Finance
  • Supporting financial applications software, including maintenance, upgrading, testing, implementation, and participation in development
  • Building business cases and developing requirements documents for RFP through to implementation
  • Collaborating and partnering with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Leading and coaching others

  • Developing and implementing new financial systems and processes
  • Providing training and support to staff on financial applications software
  • Collaborating with other departments to identify and implement process improvements
  • Developing and implementing business cases and requirements documents for RFP

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial systems and processes, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
