The Food Service Worker works in the patient and retail food service setting, reporting to the Manager/Food Service Supervisor. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and serving meals and supplies to patients, residents, staff, families and customers
  • Cleaning and sanitizing patient trays, related equipment and workplaces
  • Supporting safe food handling procedures and providing overall service excellence

Key work activities include:

  • Customer Service: Answering patient phone calls, entering meal selections on a computer, and visiting patients in their room
  • Product/Food Preparation/Assembly and Service: Assembling, portioning, and serving patient and visitor meals, preparing nourishments and special feedings
  • Delivery and Collection: Delivering and distributing selective menus and patient meals, collecting soiled patient trays
  • Food Handling: Participating in receiving and storing supplies, receiving and interpreting patient diet/meal orders
  • Menu Duties: Generating and printing menus, reports, tallies and labels
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, equipment, and work area, maintaining basic work area safety and sanitation

Applicants must demonstrate in their application/resume how they meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent, or demonstrated skills and/or relevant work experience
  • Restaurant experience and customer service skills considered an asset
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, and perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracy
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Frequent physical demands include extensive standing and walking, bending, lifting, pulling and pushing, and transferring/transporting equipment

Long Assignment, Part-Full Time / 40% FTE / 30 Hours Bi-Weekly, June 2024 to June 2025, Approximately 12 Months

Compensation: $20.02 hourly
