Accounting Specialist

As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Managing monthly, quarterly and year-end internal reporting by working closely with various departments, including other finance teams.
- Preparing underwriting results and expense forecasts.
- Analyzing underwriting results in close cooperation with the actuarial team.
- Supporting our various business units in tracking their workflow.
- Participating in initiatives to improve financial systems and accounting processes.
- Thinking critically about the controls in place and the various accounting treatments related to our operations.
- Making recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise.
- Simplifying, standardizing and improving controls of different work files.
You will bring to the table:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with Power BI, VBA, Smartview.
- At least three to five years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and finance.
- Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change.
- Discipline, autonomy and professionalism.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders.
- Bilingualism (French-English). You will be interacting regularly with colleagues from across the country.
- No Canadian work experience required; however, you must be eligible to work in Canada.
