About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Planning Engineer/Specialist to join our team at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). As a key member of our Power System Planning Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of Ontario's electricity grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement transmission plans to meet the province's electricity needs, ensuring the reliability and security of the grid.
  • Conduct economic evaluations of different options for meeting reliability needs, providing expert advice to stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development of planning processes, procedures, and tools, ensuring alignment with future procurement activities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other sector stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, briefs, and presentations on transmission planning matters, providing expert insights to IESO management and leadership.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Ontario, with competence in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in power system planning or operation, with a strong understanding of power system components, analytical studies, and computer techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
